Collaborating for Sustainability: LP Energy & SKArating 🤝

13th October 2025

It was our pleasure to assist with the newly published SKArating Offices Environmental 2.0 Scheme, an assessment methodology that helps property and construction professionals design, assess, and certify fit-out projects based on their environmental impact.

The update is the result of genuine industry collaboration, bringing together sustainability experts, designers, and clients to reshape the framework for today’s challenges. The updated scheme has been refined to include 83 targeted measures across 9 key impact categories, placing a stronger emphasis on measurable environmental performance and real-world outcomes.

Through collaboration with a wide range of industry stakeholders, we dedicated our knowledge and expertise to this initiative, ensuring it continues to support the drive for greener, smarter, and more sustainable buildings.

A big well done to Lee Pasifull for his involvement in such an important project! 👏

Employee Spotlight: Franky Proto – Office Manager

23rd September 2025

In this month’s edition of Employee Spotlights, we introduce Franky Proto, our Office Manager at LP Energy Associates. We recently sat down with her to learn more about her role and what she enjoys in her free time.

🗨️ When did you join LP Energy, and how are you getting on so far?
“I joined LP Energy Associates in September 2023, shortly after moving from London. The past two years have been fantastic, learning about a new industry and working with such an amazing group of people has been a truly rewarding experience.”

🗨️ What inspired you to join LP Energy?
“My partner and Lee have been friends for a while, which is how I first learned about the position. I was intrigued by the opportunity to explore the energy industry and to use my skills to streamline processes and support the day-to-day management of the business.”

🗨️ What’s the most exciting challenge you have tackled in your role so far?
“Before joining LP Energy, I was a primary school teacher in London, so I was very used to organising schedules for myself, colleagues, and lots of children. When I arrived at LP Energy, there were already great systems in place, but I wanted to introduce something the whole team could use to track our jobs from start to finish – especially since we’re all involved at different stages of each project. With Lee’s input, I was able to implement a new CRM system that helps the team monitor, schedule, and organise workloads, and it works pretty well!

🗨️ What motivates you to keep pushing forward professionally?
“Ultimately, the success of the company is my biggest motivation. Lee has built a great team and created a comfortable, collaborative work environment for all of us. The opportunity to work on new projects and engage in CPD means we are constantly learning, improving, and staying engaged in our work.”

🗨️ What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
“Nothing lasts forever.’ It’s more of a saying than advice, but my dad repeats it constantly. It’s a continual reminder to enjoy things while they last and to never take anything for granted. It’s also a comfort to know that when times are tough, those moments will eventually pass too.”

🗨️ What hobby or activity always helps you recharge outside of work?
“Cooking or reading, sometimes even reading about cooking, helps me wind down. I love experimenting with food, exploring new recipes and techniques, and ultimately cooking for friends and family.”

🗨️ What’s a personal goal or adventure you’re planning for the next year?
“I want to be outside more next year. More hikes, more mountains, more exploring of our beautiful English countryside.”

🗨️ If you could have dinner with any historical or famous figure, who would it be?
“The late Peter Steele, who was the lead vocalist and bassist of Type O Negative. I’d love to cook for us while we talked about life and music.”

🗨️ If you could instantly master a new language, which one would it be and why?
“Italian, so I could speak confidently with my family in Italy and surprise my grandparents with my newfound fluency. I understand enough to get by, but I’ve always struggled with conversational Italian.”

🗨️ If you could watch a film again for the first time, what would it be and why?
“Midsommar (2019) has become my favourite horror film. It’s full of suspense, shock, and intrigue, and Florence Pugh gives a brilliant performance.”

LP Energy: Air Pressure Testing Capabilities

16th September 2025

Air pressure testing is a vital method for assessing the airtightness of a building. By measuring the air leakage rate, we can determine how effectively a building is sealed from external elements – helping to:

✔️ Improve energy efficiency
✔️ Enhance indoor comfort and air quality
✔️ Ensure compliance with building regulations
✔️ Reduce utility costs and carbon footprint

We work with contractors, developers, and architects to:

• Ensure compliance with Part L and industry standards
• Identify leakage paths before they become costly issues
• Support smoother handovers and reduce project delays

Why is this important for EPCs? 🔍

When no air pressure test is carried out, EPC assessors must use default SBEM/ SAP figures in line with EPC Conventions, which often do not reflect the true performance of the building. At LP Energy, we strongly recommend air pressure testing to ensure an accurate energy model, a stronger EPC rating, and a more sustainable building overall.

With the recent change in RDSAP to RDSAP 10, we now have the capabilities to air test existing properties as part of upgrade projects and to assist with landlords who are aiming to meet with MEES compliance.

Our reports are clear, actionable, and designed to help you hit airtightness targets with confidence.

If your next project requires testing, we’d be glad to support you.

Employee Spotlight: Jordan Short – Senior Energy Consultant

19th August 2025

Meet Jordan Short, the Senior Energy Consultant at LP Energy Associates. We recently caught up with Jordan to discover more about his role and what he likes to get up to outside of work.

🗨️ When did you join LP Energy, and how are you getting on so far?
“I’ve been working with LP Energy for just over three years now, but I officially became a full-time employee at the start of 2025. I’d like to think I’m doing pretty well – otherwise, they probably wouldn’t have asked me to come on full-time!”

🗨️ What do you find most fulfilling about your job?
“I get to do a lot of surveys in London, and a lot of the buildings I get to survey are old, historical buildings. Having the opportunity to explore and work within these unique spaces is something I absolutely love”

🗨️ What does a typical day in your role look like?
“My role can be quite varied, so I don’t really have a typical day. However, when it’s an office day, it usually involves studying drawings and construction details, building 3D models of the projects, and producing the calculations. If I’m out on surveys, then it’s wandering around buildings and taking a lot of measurements and photos, which we then use to inform the 3D models and calculations.”

🗨️ Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
“I’m hoping to still be at LP Energy, where we’ve grown as a company and as a team, and continue working on interesting projects.”

🗨️ What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
“I love cooking and spend a lot of my free time in the kitchen, but my other half and I also do a lot of house renovation. Our house is quite often a building site, but I absolutely love it.”

🗨️ If you could swap jobs with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?
“If we got to keep the day’s money, then it would be Jeff Bezos; otherwise, it would be the head of MI5 or the FBI, as I’d love to know all the world’s secrets.”

🗨️ If you could instantly master any skill or talent, what would it be and why?
“It would definitely be speaking another language. We travel to Italy a lot, so if I had to be more specific, it would be speaking Italian.”

🗨️ What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
“The piece of advice that resonates with me the most is to let other people talk and actually listen to what they’re saying, rather than just waiting for your turn to speak. I’ve made great friends and heard amazing stories because of this advice.”

🗨️ If you could watch a film again for the first time, what would it be and why?
“I thought Inception was incredible when I first watched it and would love to watch it again without knowing what’s going to happen, although it’s still a good watch now!”

🗨️ What’s one thing on your bucket list that you’re aiming to do next?
“I’m trying to eat at as many of the top restaurants in the world as possible, so visiting Japan and dining at some of the best restaurants in Tokyo is next on my list.”

🗨️ If you could relive one day of your life, just to feel it again, which day would it be?
“The correct answer would probably be my wedding day, and that wouldn’t be a lie, as it was my favourite day ever. Although, as a Spurs fan, we don’t see much success, so watching us win the Europa League would be up there too!”

🗨️ If time and money were no object, what would you be doing right now?
“I’m a big animal lover, so I would definitely be involved in conservation efforts as a volunteer. Particularly with marine life, but I’d be happy working anywhere in the world.”
